In the beginning, there was the Web.

When I started on the Web, I was certain it would evolve into a universe of interlinked personal projects where every person on the planet designed their own space.  I was taken by Mondo 2000 and eventually started my career at a young Wired.  Business would have its place, but certainly this would be a future where personal expression would reign.  Hey, one can dream.

That dream has evolved into an interest in the practicality of digital self-survival.  The stories of making it without a VC are rare, much less defining the purpose of any mobile or Web pursuit as anything but financial.  That does not mean that it’s impossible, but rather the link less taken.  Nothing inspires me more than to hear such tall tales; nothing drives me more than to want to catch my own big fish.

I hope that this site, research, accounts and journey serve as a place of inspiration.

This kind of future will take effort from us all.
